ATI, Inc. has extensive knowledge of the Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) process and the unique needs that it can present in an automated environment. This knowledge comes from the years of experience in the EDM field that our Employees have, and the many years of experience that we have working with high-precision tooling for the EDM market. This combined knowledge makes us uniquely suited as your choice of integrator for EDM automation.

EDM Cell Example 1

We have completed several EDM cells with both single-machine solutions as well as multi-machine solutions supported by rail-mounted robotics. An EDM machine may be most often combined with a Graphite Mill to form a complete EDM cell that can machine the required electrodes, inspect the electrodes for accuracy, and then assign the electrodes to the proper workpieces for production in the EDM machine. This type of cell can transform an EDM machine from a dirty, labor-intensive machine tool to a state-of-the-art lights-out tool or moldmaking production system.

With the ATI CellMaster software, a customer can maximize his or her productivity in an EDM Cell that has both one or more EDM machines and at least one graphite mill. This machine combination can machine the graphite electrodes in real time, and then automatically convert them from workpieces (for the graphite mill) to tools for use in the EDM machine. This enables the complete automation of both the electrode manufacturing and the EDM burning of the final parts.
